The man, believed to be in his 40s, collided with a telegraph pole in Ranelagh Road, at around 10pm tonight.
Firefighters had to remove the roof from the black Volvo S80 to free the injured man.
He was rescued at 10.10pm and taken to Ipswich Hospital by paramedics.
