A driver is reported to have been injured after a car and van collided on the A14 in Suffolk this afternoon.

The accident happened in the eastbound carriageway near junction 49 for Stowmarket at around 1pm.

Suffolk police received reports of the collision, involving a Transit van and Vauxhall Astra, just after 1pm.

The East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust was called to attend to one of the drivers, who is said to have suffered “minor injuries”.

A police spokesman said recovery had been arranged for the vehicles and it was believed the carriageway had been cleared.

Separately, motorists reported debris on the A14 in the eastbound carriageway near Haughley.

The piece of plastic, which is thought to have fallen from a lorry, has also been cleared, police said.

The accident comes after two collisions were reported on the A14 last night. One involved a car and motorbike west of Bury St Edmunds, the other happened near Claydon.
