A driver has suffered serious injuries after being trapped in his car following a collision in west Suffolk early this morning.

Cambridgeshire Constabulary, which is dealing with the incident, said the male driver of a Suzuki Swift had crashed into the road barriers and was left trapped in his car.

He has been taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge with pelvic injuries described as serious but not life threatening.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) sent four vehicles to help free the man – one from Burwell two from Newmarket and one from Mildenhall.

According to SFRS’s incident log it took nearly 50 minutes to free the driver.
