FIREFIGHTERS in Essex took part in an unusual rescue operation today when half a dozen ducklings arrived at their back door.
The baby birds were spotted outside Chelmsford Fire Station by Leading Firefighter Carl Smith.
“The ducklings turned up at around 3pm this afternoon and where huddled together right by the bay doors where the fire appliances are kept,” he said.
“Their mother was nowhere to be seen so we kept the ducklings safe and called the RSPCA to collect them.
“They have now been taken to a wildlife hospital.”
