A First World War mortar bomb has been exploded by specialist teams on Dunwich Beach today.
Suffolk police were alerted by a member of the public at around 7.40am.
They reported finding a “very old, rusty kortar”, a spokeswoman for the force said.
The Bomb Disposal Team were called to assess the shell.
The poice spokeswoman added: “They arrived and put sandbags around the device.
“The beach was closed and nearby fisherman were moved from the area.
“An explosion was carried out and the Bomb Disposal Team gave the all clear just before midday.”
