A CONFERENCE is being held today to debate the ash dieback disease which is killing trees across the region.

Organised by the Forestry Commission, the event at Ickworth House, near Bury St Edmunds, will see eminent ecologists discuss the chalara fraxinea fungus which has spread to hundreds of trees in the UK.

The Plant Health Day conference will provide an update with information about the disease.

The conference will run from 10am-4pm and will feature speeches by the Forestry Commissioner for England and the Head of Plant Health at the commission.
