Thousands will be excitedly waiting in London to see the Queen's birthday flypast but those living in Suffolk and Essex will get the first glimpse of the spectacular display.

The event, which will mark the Queen's 93rd birthday, will form part of the annual 'Trooping The Colour' celebration.

The impressive display of pageantry will see more than 1,400 members of the Household Division, the Queen's personal troop, 200 horses and more than 400 musicians from 10 bands march at Horse Guards Parade.

Her Majesty the Queen will be taking the salute during the ceremony, which gets underway at 10am and will culminate with the flypast at around 1pm.

Although the exact route and timings are yet to be officially confirmed by the Ministry of Defence, the formation is expected to muster over Southwold, fly directly over Ipswich into Essex. Those in Colchester and Chelmsford are expected to get a clear view as the flight of aircraft heads towards the Barbican and on to Buckingham Palace.

Eagle-eyed plane spotters will have noticed practice runs happening over Suffolk and Essex this week.

Practise runs took place on June 3 and 4 and gave us a hint as to which aircraft will be used in the display.

Photographers have shared images of a range of planes taking place in the trial runs including an Airbus Voyager, a BA 146, a Beechcraft Shadow R1, a Sentinel R1, four Eurofighter Typhoon and a 120TP Prefect.

A range of helicopters and planes are also expected to join the display as well as the famous Red Arrows.

The Queen's actual birthday falls in April but Trooping the Colour always takes place on the second Saturday in June, when the Queen celebrates her official birthday.

Members of the Royal family will gather on the balcony at Buckingham Palace for the spectacular flypast.
