The main rail line between East Anglia and London will be closed again over the bank holiday weekend to allow Network Rail engineers to install new overhead wires between Ilford and Maryland stations on the approach to Stratford.

On Saturday, Sunday and Monday – May 26 to 28 – there will be a replacement bus service from Ingatestone station to Newbury Park on the Central Line and journeys to London will take between 30 and 60 minutes longer than usual.

The Felixstowe line will also be closed from Saturday evening until the start of services on Tuesday as work continues to upgrade the track to the port.

Meliha Duymaz, Network Rail’s route managing director for Anglia, said: “. The work will result in fewer delays and cancellations and will support the growing number of passengers using the Great Eastern Main Line. I’d like to thank passengers for their patience while we carry out this upgrade.”
