AN East Anglian TA soldier was killed after volunteering to serve in Afghanistan to follow his dream of becoming an officer in the regular military.

Rifleman Andrew Ian Fentiman, 23, of 7th Battalion The Rifles, who was from Cambridge, died after coming under fire while on a foot patrol near Sangin in Helmand Province on Sunday morning.

He had put his career as a sales manager in Huntingdon on hold to deploy to Afghanistan as part of the 3 Rifles Battle Group.
