An eight-year-old boy was taken to hospital after the air ambulance was called following a road outside East Bergholt High School on Saturday lunchtime.
Emergency services were called shortly after noon and the boy was suffering head injuries. The air ambulance was called, but eventually the youngster was taken to Ipswich Hospital by land vehicle.
He was understood to be in a serious condition in hospital, but after initial concerns, his condition was not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing.
The road outside the school was closed for about two hours on Saturday afternoon while police investigated the accident.
