Fans outraged by huge re-sale prices for Ed Sheeran’s 2019 Ipswich gigs

Tickets for the three gigs Ed is due to play in Chantry Park in Ipswich next summer were spotted by this newspaper on re-sale site viagogo for over £1,000.

Many fans were concerned how these tickets were up for sale in the first place considering Sheeran’s own strict rules on selling.

Steven Page said: “How is this possible with the ticketing rules that have been deployed”

While Leanne Currie added: “I thought the paperless ticket thing meant the tickets couldn’t be sold on. Feel sorry for any one stupid enough to pay it as they won’t even get in as you have to show the card you paid on I thought.”

Hazel Fulcher said: “After a change of heart, I missed out going on a Saturday night because of people like these. Genuine people who want to go to see Ed Sheeran have to miss out because these people just want to make money. Well good luck selling them because you need your details to get in.”

A statement on the singers’ website reads: “Any Ed Sheeran ticket offered for resale elsewhere, either on or offline (including viagogo or any other unauthorised source including all secondary ticket retail websites), will result in the entire original booking being cancelled.

“The original purchaser and their party will be refused admission and any other purchases they hold will also be cancelled.”

Some were more concerned that fans would be prepared to pay such prices.

Rita Mackenzie said: “Touts will always prosper if there are people willing to buy at stupid money!” and Lesley Denison added: “Shame on the people who pay that amount, if no one bought them they’d go out of business.”
