Youngsters in Orford have been getting into the spirit of National Science Week by creating parachutes for eggs.
Only bin bags, string and polystyrene cups were available to the pupils at Orford Primary School as they tried to protect their eggs during their fall.
Once their creations were ready, the students handed them over so that they could be dropped off the neighbouring fire tower. The contraptions were given points based on four criteria: shape, design, decoration and explanation.
The winners were Kaitlyn (Year 6), Lewis (Year 5), Cecily (Year 2) and Emily (Reception) who scored 34/40 with their parachute.
“It was fantastic,” said teacher Gemma Cannon. “Out of the 14 teams, 11 eggs survived. The children were so excited.”
The parachute drop was just one of many events being held at the school to mark National Science Week with in class experiments and a school fair also being held.
