ELDERLY people in Lakenheath and Stowmarket have been targeted by suspicious callers asking personal questions and trying to arrange home visits, the police have warned.

ELDERLY people in Lakenheath and Stowmarket have been targeted by suspicious callers asking personal questions and trying to arrange home visits, the police have warned.

Suffolk police has been alerted to two incidents and have warned the public to be vigilant against such calls.

A spokeswoman for the police said: “In both cases persons have telephoned asking to arrange to visit, one to value possessions, the other to discuss security.

“The callers asked personal questions and both elderly women were left distressed by the calls. People are advised not to give personal details over the phone, and to hang up if you are unsure if the caller is genuine.”
