An elderly man had to be freed from his vehicle by fire crews in Wix, near Manningtree, this evening after a collision on the A120.
Ambulance crews were called to the accident at around 5.45pm and treated two patients at the scene - one female, who was walking wounded, and the elderly man.
Three fire crews also attended, from Dovercourt and Weeley, and extricated the man, said to be in his 60s, who was trapped in his vehicle.
Two ambulances and an ambulance officer attended the incident and took both patients to Colchester General Hospital for further treatment,
The accident blocked part of the A120 and caused substantial delays to motorists travelling in the area.
