A woman who was given emergency first aid after being rescued from a moat has died.
Essex County Fire & Rescue Service was called to Castle Street in Ongar at around 12.25pm today.
At about 12.40pm firefighters had saved the woman, who was described as “elderly”, from the castle moat and were giving her emergency first aid.
But it was confirmed that despite their efforts she died.
There is no further information at this time.
