Burglars stole cash and a lottery ticket from the Essex home of an elderly woman while she was out playing bingo.
The break-in happened in the Church Road area of Kelvedon between 6.30pm and 10pm on Monday, December 8.
Police said that about £170 was stolen from the woman, who they described as “elderly”, and that a lottery ticket was also taken.
Investigating officer Dc Mel Burns said: “The occupant was out at a bingo meeting when the break in took place.
“I would urge people to keep the amounts of cash in their homes to a minimum and be mindful of crime prevention advice, especially this time of year when thieves may try and take advantage of the festive season.”
Anybody with information about the break-in should contact Dc Mel Burns on Essex Police 101.
