Emergency services from Suffolk and Cambridgeshire were called to a car fire on the A14 this morning.

Three fire engines, two from Cambridge and one from Newmarket were called to the scene.

A spokesperson for Suffolk Fire and Rescue said the ambulance service had not been called.

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Constabulary said: “A car fire was reported at 10.42am on A14 between Quy and Newmarket, on the eastbound carriageway.

“It would have caused some disruption with two lanes being closed. They were reopened just after noon.

The spokesperson said that the car in question was a blue Jaguar estate car and that Highways arranged recovery of vehicle.
