Scores of schoolchildren will be given a behind-the-scenes tour of BT’s Adastral Park next month to give them a taste of the world of engineering.

Organised by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), the event, on Friday, August 3, will see up to 100 parents and children descend on the site in Martlesham to get an insight of the reality of working in the engineering and communications field.

The open day is part of dozens of events happening all over the country, although this is the first time BT has taken part.

Last year saw more than 3,000 children and parents take part nationally, and this year’s is set to be even bigger.

Nigel Fine, IET chief executive, said: “With 2018 officially declared the Year of Engineering , there’s never been a better time to engage with and inspire children and parents to help them better understand how exciting and diverse a career in engineering can be.”
