A controlled explosion was held on a north Essex beach after a passer-by found three hand grenades.
Police cordoned off the beach at Lower Marine Parade, Dovercourt, shortly after 5pm on Saturday while military experts carried out the explosion.
The cordon was lifted at 9pm once the scene had been cleared.
