Fire crews put out flames at a semi-detached bungalow in St Osyth this evening.
Three fire engines, two from Clacton and one from Weeley, plus an aerial ladder platform from Colchester were sent to Allen Way in the village at 7pm.
Firefighters arrived to find a blaze in the roof, which was completely alight.
They worked quickly to extinguish the fire, by using hose reel jets to stop it spreading.
Thanks to their quick efforts the blaze was out by 8pm.
