FIREFIGHTERS battled a large blaze at a scrap yard in Essex involving two tanks containing thousands of litres of diesel.
Fire broke out at the yard in Waltham Road, Boreham, at around 3.30pm today.
Crews from Chelmsford, Baddow, Witham, Maldon and Basildon were sent to the scene, where a large amount of scrap metal was ablaze, along with two diesel tanks containing four to five thousand litres of fuel.
Firefighters used foam and ground hoses to tackle the flames, which spread to machinery containing hydraulic fluid in the middle of the scrap yard. The fire was out by 7pm.
