The trial of a 25-year-old man accused of causing the death of a man by careless driving is due to take place next March.

Before Ipswich Crown Court for a plea and direction hearing today (Tuesday) was Gavin Whitlock, of Leconfield Walk, Hornchurch.

A not guilty plea was entered on his behalf to a charge of causing the death of Robert Cattermole on December 16 last year by driving a Vauxhall Corsa on London Road, Stanway, without care and attention.

The case was adjourned until January 26 for a further case management hearing and his trial, which is expected to last two to three days, is due to get underway on March 22 next year.

Whitlock was granted unconditional bail.
