A driver arrested after an accident in north Essex and allegedly giving a roadside test showing they were three times above the drink driving limit has been charged and is due to appear in court.
Traffic police were called to the scene of a collision in Tile Bird Lane, Lawford, at around 8.50pm on Sunday night, to reports of a crash.
Following the incident, a man is alleged to have provided a breath sample with a reading three times over the drink driving limit.
This afternoon a spokeswoman for Essex police confirmed that Donatas Ringaila has since been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
Pictures of the collision show a damaged blue Volkswagen in amongst grass and a broken telephone post, next to a road in the town.
Pc Jonathan McDonald from Essex Police, who attended the incident, said a man had been arrested on suspicion of drink driving in connection with the collision.
He added that a sample of 113 was provided at the roadside following the crash – which is three times the legal limit.
Witnesses to the crash, and anyone with information or dash cam footage of what happened, is asked to contact the Stanway Roads Policing Unit by dialling 101.
