Five people were arrested for football match-related incidents in Essex last night, police said.
Essex Police praised the majority of fans for enjoying England’s World Cup semi-final in the “right spirt”
A police spokesman said: “Police officers worked longer hours overnight to keep Essex safe. A
“lthough the result wasn’t what any England fan wanted, we are really pleased that the evening passed off with good conduct with only five arrests for football match-related incidents across the county last night.
“We would like to thank everyone who enjoyed the game in the right spirit as well as venues which showed the game for the steps they took to make sure everyone was able to enjoy themselves safely.”
