DETECTIVES have issued an e-fit image of a man following the assault of a woman in Braintree, Essex.

At around 0.40am on June 29 an unidentified man knocked on the door of a property in Manor Street, Braintree, and a woman in her twenties answered the door.

The unidentified man claimed to have a pizza to deliver, but the woman had not ordered any. The unidentified man then asked to use the woman’s phone, claiming that he must have got the address wrong, and assaulted her by trying to push her inside the property.

The woman resisted and the unidentified man left. The woman was shaken but uninjured.

The e-fit is a likeness of the unidentified suspect, who is described as: an Asian man, aged in his late teens or early twenties, of slim build, with very short, almost shaved hair and wearing a black anorak and dark trousers.

Detectives are appealing for anyone with information about this crime or who saw any suspicious behaviour in the area during the time in question to contact investigating officer Pc Charles Roberts at Braintree police station on 101 or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
