Essex police officers have reported being punched in the head and thrown to floor while patrolling the new year celebrations in Colchester today.
The officers were in Head Street at around 12.20pm today when they reported being assaulted.
“One reported that he was punched in the head and the other reported he was thrown to the floor,” an Essex Police spokesman said.
Police arrested a 23-year-old man at the scene on suspicion of assaulting a police officer.
Theo King of Military Road in Colchester is due to appear at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on January 19.
