A man has been arrested after an alleged stabbing in Colchester.

Essex Police officers were called to reports of a man injured in Ship Wharf, near the River Colne, at around 12.45pm yesterday.

He was taken to hospital for treatment to a stab wound in his back.

Police confirmed this morning that a man had been arrested in connection with the incident.

A 40 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and is currently in custody.
