A man from Essex today appeared in court in connection with the death of 17-year-old Jay Whiston at a house party in Colchester.

Jay, of Aster Close in Clacton, died from a stab wound he sustained at the party in Marlowe Way on the evening of September 8, 2012.

Yesterday, an 18-year-old man from Stanway appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court charged with murder.

He was remanded in court custody prior to a trial on January 8 next year.

The trial is expected to last six weeks.
