'Explosions heard' as lorry bursts into flames near property development in Sudbury
A lorry exploded and flames spread to two newly-built homes on a development in Sudbury this morning.
Loud bangs were heard as the lorry was overcome by flames, according to eye witnesses.
Two fire engines were called to the scene of the vehicle blaze in Alder Way at 8.10am. The fire had been extinguished and brought under control by 9.10am, the fire brigade said.
The spokesman said: “On arrival crews found that this was a lorry on fire and had spread to two partially built houses. Crews used two hose reel jets, two breathing apparatus and one main jet.”
The dramatic scene was captured on camera by several neighbours, and some managed to film the aftermath.
A Suffolk Constabulary spokesman said there were no serious injuries but said that two explosions had been heard by witnesses who reported the incident to police.
The fire reportedly spread to a nearby property development currently under construction. More follows.
