A man who breached a restraining order by going to his former partner’s home at night with a knife has been jailed for 20 months.

Police were called after Calvin Blomfield was seen on a security camera outside the woman's front door in Eye in the early hours of November 23.

Police arrived at the house at 2.25am and Blomfield, who was drunk, was arrested after he returned to the property while the police were there. A knife in a sheath was found on the ground nearby.

Blomfield, 53, of Ash Drive, Eye, admitted breaching a restraining order, possessing a knife and possession of a small amount of cannabis resin.

The court heard he was made the subject of a five year restraining order by Suffolk Magistrates in October last year for offences of battery and criminal damage.

Peter Gair, prosecuting, said Blomfield had first breached the restraining order one day after it was made by driving past the woman's home and was fined £50.

Richard Kelly, for Blomfield, told the court the offences had happened against the background of the recent breakdown in the relationship with the victim.

Blomfield told the court he used the knife for work and wouldn't hurt anyone with it.
