False alarm for river rescuers

Emergency services were called to the banks of the river below Princes Street bridge, in Ipswich, following a report of someone being in the water.

A water rescue team and firefighters from nearby Princes Street station were called to the scene at around 10pm tonight.

A search of the water was carried out but nothing was found.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service described the incident as “a false alarm with good intent”.
