Organisers of a family-friendly Suffolk music festival which has raised more than £200,000 for charity since it was launched more than 20 years ago have announced this year’s line-up.
The Bures Music Festival, which will run from July 4-8, has raised and distributed more than £200,000 to organisations such as St Nicholas Hospice Care, St Helena Hospice and Ferriers Barn since its launch in 1997.
This year’s festival will include Bernie Marsden – former guitarist for Whitesnake and UFO – and Robbie Gladwell of Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel fame.
Marsden co-wrote the multi-million selling hit Here I Go Again, which helped establish Whitesnake as one of the most successful live rock bands of all time.
Gladwell’s new collaboration – Robbie Gladwell and The Sidemen – which features a group of celebrated session musicians who have worked with artists such as Paul McCartney and Tom Jones, will perform songs and share anecdotes of life on the road.
Tribute acts to Michael Jackson, The Kinks and The Beach Boys will also appear over the four-day festival.
These acts will be supported by supported by a mix of local bands and talent including ska act The Kubricks, funk and soul act Ashton Jones Project, roots rockers The Vagaband, rockabilly group The Kopy Katz, blues rockers Southbound and Hot Tramp, and many more.
Tom Moore, organiser, said: “We’re really excited about this year’s line-up which offers an amazing mix of music legends and up-and-coming talent.
“We’re hoping it will entice people back, rain or shine, to help us raise another great sum for local causes.
“Fortunately for us, the weather isn’t a problem because we have a big top and other covered areas to keep the crowds sheltered.”
There is still time for young solo artists or bands to sign up for the popular B-Fest young musicians’ competition, which will be held on Thursday, July 5.
Organisers are continuing to work on the packed schedule of additional treats, rides, stalls and entertainment for families and festival-goers ahead of the July event.
