A “FANTASIST” who made up a string of allegations including rape and kidnap was today found guilty of perverting the course of justice.

Michaela Britton's claims included one that burglars stole a videotape of her in a compromising position whilst wearing an officer's helmet at Essex Police's headquarters.

Chelmsford Crown Court heard how the mother-of-one made a series of serious allegations during a six-month period in 2006 including being raped, burgled, kidnapped and slashed with a knife.

Britton denied being a fantasist but a jury of three men and nine women today returned a unanimous guilty verdict on the 40-year-old who will be sentenced next month.

Britton, of Waterhouse Lane, Chelmsford, was warned it is likely she will be jailed and has been remanded in custody until sentencing takes place next month.
