POLICE have this morning named a teenager who died in a road accident in Suffolk.

Daniel Lupson, 18, of Mellis, was killed in the early hours of yesterday morning when the blue Hyandai Coupe he was travelling in left the road, collided with a tree and overturned in Yaxley.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the accident - which happened around 2am on Old Ipswich Road - but Mr Lupson was pronounced dead at the scene.

The teenager was a passenger in the car and another male passenger was unhurt but in shock.

The driver - also believed to be male - was taken to Ipswich Hospital with serious head injuries and was later transferred to Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge.

The A140 was closed with diversions through Eye for just over an hour and Old Ipswich Road was closed until 8.30am.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw the collision or may have any further information to contact Sgt Paul Ward at the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 01473 613500.
