Fatal crash victim named by police

A WOMAN who died after her car was involved in a collision with a lorry laden with telegraph poles in Essex has been named.Laura Barker, 27, of Hedingham Road, Wethersfield, near Braintree, died in hospital yesterday afternoon.

Laura Barker, of Hedingham Road, Wethersfield, near Braintree, died in hospital yesterday afternoon after her Ford 4x4 collided with a Mercedes lorry at about 12.30pm.

The accident happened in Hudson Hill in Wethersfield and the 27-year-old RSPCA centre care manager was rushed to Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford but died shortly after arrival.

A police spokesman said the driver and passenger of the lorry escaped serious injury and did not require hospital treatment.

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the vehicles prior to the accident to contact Bocking Road Policing Unit on 01376 330722.
