Investigations are continuing following a fatal house fire in Yoxford, near the Suffolk coast, this morning.
Firefighters found the casualty in the property in Grove Side, off the picturesque High Street, and they were confirmed dead at the scene. No more detail is known about the person at this stage.
A spokeswoman for Suffolk police said the death is currently being treated as unexplained and the cause of the fire is unknown at this stage.
A seal remains on the property while Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) and fire investigators try to establish the cause.
A spokeswoman for Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service said no-one is unaccounted for following the fire, which is believed to have been contained to the ground floor of the two-storey property.
Emergency services were called shortly before 5.20am to reports of a fire at the house and the fire service sent three engines, from Halesworth, Saxmundham and Leiston.
Crews used six breathing apparatus and two hose reels and extinguished the blaze by 6.15am.
A joint police and fire service investigation is taking place.
Retailers in the High Street had been aware of the presence of the emergency services, including a police forensics van.
Andrew Singleton, owner of Suffolk House Antiques, in the High Street, said he was sorry to hear someone had passed away.
