FROM classic cars to a walking festival, photography workshops to open-air theatre, and nature trails to historical re-enactments, it’s going to be a full year at one of Felixstowe’s biggest attractions.
The Landguard peninsula – which includes Felixstowe Museum, Landguard Fort, the port viewing area, nature reserve and a bird observatory – is visited by more than 500,000 people ever year.
This year they will again be able to enjoy a wide range of activities and events to get the most out of the experience of a day out at Suffolk’s most southerly point.
Events co-ordinator Stephen Rampley said the season would get under way at the end of March with more than 40 different events taking place over the coming months.
“Landguard has lots for families and people of all ages all year round with the nature reserve and viewing area, and during the season the museum and fort are also open, and it is easy to have a full day out and still not see everything,” he said.
“We hope the events will add to people’s enjoyment and also give more people a reason to come down and have some fun, and find out more about Landguard and everything that happens here.”
Events get under way with Easter activities – including a bunny hunt – before the popular 95th Rifles arrive for the first of two visits this summer. The calendar includes many favourites, including Darell’s Day, classic car show, and guided tours, and bug and beastie trails.
