They did it!
After covering 60 miles on foot in just over 24 hours, a quartet of coastal walkers reached their final destination in Felixstowe.
Relieved the challenge was finally behind them, but delighted to have made a difference for a worthy cause, the four-strong team of Suffolk striders were met with a warm reception at the finish line.
The fundraisers, who included BBC Radio Suffolk presenter Lesley Dolphin and EADT Suffolk Magazine editor Jayne Lindill, arrived at Landguard Point yesterday morning following their 60-mile trek along the Suffolk coast in aid of Suffolk Family Carers’ 8 Days a Week appeal.
The first leg of the journey from Lowestoft on Wednesday morning was hampered somewhat by terrible weather, but the foursome persevered to reach their goal only about half-an-hour behind schedule.
The group, which was also made up of Discover Suffolk’s David Falk and the county council’s Nick Collinson, took in a selection of Suffolk’s seaside sights along the way, including Southwold, Dunwich, Aldeburgh and Snape.
The family carers appeal is run in partnership with BBC Radio Suffolk and the East Anglian Daily Times. The charity has been able to buy a mobile family carer centre, which will allow it to support thousands of hidden family carers, and will provide a place where family carers can be supported.
