WE are now just weeks away from the start of the Olympic Games in London.

And one couple from the resort are now counting down the days to the opening ceremony after receiving their ‘games maker’ uniforms.

Richard and Jayne Farnworth, of Swallow Close, Felixstowe, will both be volunteering at the Games.

Mr Farnworth, 58, will be volunteering as a chauffeur and PA to one of the Olympic committee members, while Jayne, 56, is due to be stewarding events at the ExCel Centre during the Games.

Mr Farnworth said: “It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity and we are both excited about it. We can’t wait to get to London and start.”

As well as taking part in the Games, Richard and Jayne will also be attending the rehearsal for the opening ceremony. The couple will be staying in London with their daughter for three weeks during the event.

Mr Farnworth added: “When we got our ID cards showing what areas we are allowed to go into, that’s when it all started to sink in.”

Jayne is due to head to London on July 22 for training while Richard will be meeting his client for the Games on July 24.

Which events will you be watching? Or will you be switching off when the Olympics arrive?
