EDDIE Maher, a former security guard wanted in connection with the theft of nearly �1.2million, has been committed to appear at Ipswich Crown Court on September 7.

Maher appeared before South East Suffolk Magistrates’ Court today via video link from HMP Norwich where he confirmed his name, date of birth and address.

It is alleged that on January 22, 1993, Maher – who was working as a Securicor driver at the time – drove off with a van containing �1,172,500, while his colleague entered Lloyds Bank in Hamilton Road, Felixstowe.

Maher also looks set to stand trial for the alleged offence after magistrates informed him his trial window would be between October 15 and November 30 this year.
