A RETRIAL of four men accused of the gang rape of a 16-year-old girl has got under way at Ipswich Crown Court.

The teenager was allegedly attacked by the gang after being invited back to a house in Holland Road in Felixstowe in the early hours of New Year’s Day last year.

Before the court are Arturas Bagdziunas, 28, who was living at Leeward Court, St Andrew’s Road, Felixstowe; Minddaugas Mickevicius, 31, then of Holland Road, Felixstowe; Alvaras Urbonas, 25, of Sea Road, Felixstowe; and Edgaras Sliburis, 19, of Peterhead, Scotland.

All four defendants have denied three charges of raping the girl on January 1 2010.

Matthew McNiff, prosecuting, told the court that around midnight the alleged victim had been seeing in the New Year on the seafront at Felixstowe and had become separated from a friend who was with a boy.

The teenager was offered a can of beer by Bagdziunas and Sliburis and although she declined the drink the three of them had chatted for a few minutes.

Another man had then approached the trio and put his arm round the girl who was annoyed with her friend for leaving her and agreed to go with them to a house in Holland Road, said Mr McNiff.

“We don’t say she is perfect or that she behaved as sensibly as we would have,” said Mr McNiff.

When they arrived at the house in Holland Road the girl was given a cigarette and sat on a sofa. Bagdziunas had allegedly told her she was beautiful and had then run his hand up and down her leg and touched her breast over her clothing.

The other men in the room were watching this while talking to each other in their native tongue and the girl allegedly saw one of them wink at her.

She began to feel uneasy but didn’t feel able to get up and walk out and decided to use the toilet so she could make a phone call to get help, said Mr McNiff.

However, she was allegedly followed upstairs by Bagdziunas and Sliburis and was allegedly pushed into a bedroom and on to a bed by Bagdziunas.

He allegedly forced her to have oral sex and when Sliburis came into the room he also allegedly forced her to perform oral sex on him while Bagdziunas allegedly raped her.

Part of the incident was captured by a camera on a mobile phone and this footage was shown to the jury.

Mr McNiff said the men were laughing in the footage and one of them said, “Don’t be afraid, she’s a tramp.”

The girl had then allegedly been raped by Mickevicius while Bagdziunas allegedly assaulted her again and Urbonis allegedly forced her to have oral sex.

When the alleged sex attacks ended the girl left the house and spoke to a stranger who alerted the police.

The trial continues today.
