Science on the beach, a top quality children’s show, crafts, shopping and music are among the many things to enjoy in Felixstowe over the next seven days.
Friday, August 17:
Held every two years, the Felixstowe Photographic Society is staging its 12th Biennial Print and Digital Photography Exhibition at Trinity Methodist Church Hall, Hamilton Road/Orwell Road.
It is open today (Friday August 17) from 10am to 8pm and tomorrow (Saturday, August 18) from 10am to 5pm.
On show are more than 100 prints and 200 projected images. Admission free.
Saturday, August 18:
Well-known glass artist Naomi Brangwyn is holding a workshop in Felixstowe to give people a taste of working with stained glass.
The event, which will be held at her studio (details on booking) from 10am to 4pm, is suitable for beginners as well as workers of any standard.
Cost for the day is £55 which covers tuition, use of tools and equipment – materials to be charged extra.

Saturday, August 18:
Bob the Builder, Little Princess, Noddy, Fireman Sam, Shimmer & Shine, Pip from Pip Ahoy are among the characters onstage at the Spa Pavilion in Felixstowe as Milkshake - Live is staged twice today.
It will be a fantastic afternoon for the youngsters with all their TV and storybook favourites – an all singing, all dancing, musical masterpiece, taking the audience on a journey through the world’s favourite fairy tales.

Sunday, August 19:
Felixstowe Museum has a summer quiz trail – with youngsters tasked with search for hidden Lego models, solving the clues to win a tasty treat.
The trail is running every Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday during August. Today the museum, next to Landguard Fort, in View Point Road, is open from noon to 5pm.
The museum has fascinating displays on the resort’s history. Trail is £2 for children and adults and includes admission to the museum.
Sunday, August 19:
With dozens of stalls and shops selling a wide range of goods, Felixstowe Sunday Market is a must for visitors to the seafront.
The event – held at Manning’s Amusement Park in Sea Road – is on from 9am using buildings in the funfair and the under cover arena area.
Traders include those selling wet fish, bedding, clothing, vegetables, books, handbags and suitcases, garden furniture, quality butchers, phone accessories, plants, women’s fashions and much more.
Monday, August 20:
Hands-on activities will help children get to grips with science at Science on the Sand between 10am and 3pm on Felixstowe beach. Kinetic Science is staging the day on the shore near the Visit Felixstowe Tourist Information Centre beach hut (opposite the Town Hall), Undercliff Road West – admission free, drop in any time during the day.
Monday, August 20:
Today’s health walk is a stroll around the Trimley and Grimston area.
It sets off at 10.45am from Searson’s Farm car park, Cordy’s Lane, Trimley St. Mary.
The walk will last about 90 minutes and is led by trained Stepping Out in Suffolk volunteer walk leader Nigel Meadows.
Everyone welcome. Admission free. Just turn up.
Monday, August 20:
Crafts, stories, songs, games, drama and puppet sketches, creating junk models plus team challenges to find treasure are among the many activities at the Psalm Tree Island holiday club, which starts today and runs until August 24.
The holiday club based around Bible stories of the life of David is at Trinity Methodist Church, Orwell Road, daily from 10am to 12.30pm.

Tuesday, August 21 (and daily throughout the summer):
A great day out for families – try the Summer Holiday Trail at Landguard Fort.
The fort in Viewpoint Road is open from 10am to 4pm and there is plenty to explore inside with displays in the rooms, and lots of history to discover at the place which has the unique distinction of being the last place England was invaded. This summer there is also a quiz trail around the fort.
Normal admission charges for the Fort apply, plus £1.50 for a trail sheet (including a Landguard Fort pencil).
Wednesday, August 22:
Violinist Eliza Burkitt will be playing at the Music in Felixstowe – Young Musicians’ Showcase at St. Andrew’s Church, St Andrew’s Road. Take your sandwiches (tea and coffee provided) and enjoy the lunchtime concert, from noon. Admission free – collection on the door.
