TEAM GB hockey star and Olympic bronze medallist Emily Maguire is to visit Felixstowe next month to officially open the new Felixstowe Hockey Club headquarters.
Before performing the opening ceremony alongside Mayor of Felixstowe, Mike Deacon, she will give the club’s 50-strong youth section a masterclass, showing off some of her skills and her highly-prized medal to the up and coming young players.
The opening of the clubhouse at the Felixstowe Community Hub on the Felixstowe Academy Maidstone Campus takes place on February 2 at 10.45am.
Emily’s class with the youngsters will take place from 10am and 10.30am.
Club chairman John Bax said: “ To have an Olympic medalist opening our clubhouse, alongside the mayor, is going to make an already special day even more memorable.
“We are delighted that Emily has agreed to spend some time with our youth section, all of whom are very excited about seeing her medal!
“We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone who has supported us on our journey to get here and can’t wait to show off and use our new facilities!”
The opening event will be followed by the men’s 1st team playing at home against Ely. The team are on course to be promoted this season should their impressive form continue.
