A man has been taken to hospital after being stabbed in Felixstowe.
A police spokesman said they were called by the East of England ambulance service to the scene shortly before 5pm on Monday afternoon after reports of a man having been injured.
The incident happened in Runnacles Way, close to the Grange Farm Avenue junction, in the west of the town.
The man, whose age is unknown, was taken to hospital for treatment to a stab wound under his shoulder. The seriousness of the injuries remained unclear last night, but they were not thought to be life threatening.
Officers cordoned off a large area surrounding the scene of the incident.
The stabbing is the latest in a series of incidents to take place across the county in the past year.
In ten weeks there were six different knife attacks across Suffolk.
This number includes the death of teenager Tavis Spencer Aitkens in Ipswich on June 2.
There have also been incidents in Haverhill, Lowestoft and elsewhere in Ipswich.
Police and crime commissioner Tim Passmore said: “ I am shocked to hear of this dreadful incident in Felixstowe. I hope this is an isolated incident.”
Mr Passmore said that people needed to learn that such behaviour was not the way to solve issues and that it was not behaviour that would be accepted in Suffolk.
“These stabbings have got to stop, it’s ruining lives and communities,” he said.
Mayor of Felixstowe Graham Newman, who lives close by to the incident, expressed his concern at the events in the town.
“It’s saddening to hear it’s happened in Felixstowe,” said Mr Newman.
“There will be a great deal of concern to people that this happened on their doorstep. This will come as a surprise.”
Mr Newman encouraged members of the public to get in touch with the police if they knew anything about the incident.
Stuart Bird, a district councillor for Felixstowe West added: “Any incident like this is shocking, even more so in Felixstowe, we don’t tend to have the amount of crime that other places do.”
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident to get in touch using the reference 325 of today Monday October 15.
