STRONG winds meant Operation Stack was brought into use at Britain’s biggest port.

The measure, which means lorries are parked up off the dual carriageway, because it is too dangerous to operate loading cranes.

Police said elsewhere in the county, two trees were toppled in the blustery conditions but said their rural locations meant no delays were caused.
