The measure, which means lorries are parked up off the dual carriageway, because it is too dangerous to operate loading cranes.

Suffolk Constabulary said the Port of Felixstowe was closed yesterday afternoon but reopened at about 4am this morning when winds eased.

Police said elsewhere in the county, two trees were toppled in the blustery conditions but said their rural locations meant no delays were caused.
