A DRIVER had a lucky escape when his car went into a tree near the Morrisons supermarket in Felixstowe.

Police were called to a report of a green Volkswagen Golf going off a road near the store at about 7.10am.

A police spokeswoman said the car had gone 20feet from the road. The male driver suffered minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment.

Crews spent an hour fighting a building fire last night in Sudbury.

The fire was reported at about 4.30am in The Breadbin Bakery in Borehamgate.

Firefighters found the fire was coming from an oven and used breathing apparatus, a hosereel jet and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire. The fire was under control by 05.30am.

Suffolk and Essex police have reported no major problems on the region’s road network.
