A GANG of thieves is preying on vehicles in the Felixstowe area – stealing thousands of pounds worth of tools.

Police said there were at least six incidents where vans had been entered with tools being taken from four of them.

Today drivers were warned not to leave valuable items inside cars and vans following the incidents, which happened late Sunday night and in the early hours of Monday.

It’s thought a large vehicle would have been needed to transport the stolen items.

The raiders got away with tools including an orange coloured electric hammer drill, blue Makita angle drill, blue Makita screw gun, a blue Makita cordless drill, three circular saws and three orange nail guns from a Citroen in Mill Lane.

At St Andrews Road, a VW van was entered and tools including two heavy-duty volt drills, a green and black Makita core drill and a black Bosch breaker were stolen. Another van – a Toyota – in the same road was broken into and items removed but left behind and it is possible the offenders may have been disturbed.

At Kersey Road, a Peugeot van was entered with a green Bosch sander, yellow and black Dewalt jig saw and several blue Makita drills taken, and at Brandon Road a Vauxhall was broken into and two orbital sanders and a Makita drill stolen.

A Ford Transit parked in Tomline Road was also broken into but nothing appeared to have been stolen.

Anyone who saw anything unusual or has any information about the vehicle break-ins is asked to call police on 101 or ring Crimestoppers, anonymously if required, on 0800 555 111.
