TWO members of Eddie Maher’s family, arrested in connection with the inquiry into the theft of nearly 1.2million from outside a Felixstowe bank in 1993, have been released on police bail.
His partner Deborah Brett, 47, and his sister Margaret Francis, 64, were detained by Suffolk detectives in Eastbourne on suspicion of conspiracy to steal and assisting an offender.
The theft, which Maher has denied, occurred outside Lloyds Bank in Hamilton Road on January 22, 1993.
A spokeswoman for Suffolk Constabulary said: “Two women arrested yesterday, Tuesday 18 December in connection with the investigation into a security van theft outside Lloyds Bank, Hamilton Road, Felixstowe in 1993 have been bailed pending further enquiries.
“The 47 year old and 64 year old women, both from Eastbourne in East Sussex who were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to steal and assisting an offender, have been bailed to return to the Martlesham Police Investigation Centre on 13 February 2013.”
