FIREFIGHTERS have been called to a fire reported in a redbrick mansion in the heart of Bury St Edmunds.
The alarm was raised at 11.36am today when flames were seen in the detached building in Northgate Avenue.
The Victorian mansion is divided into two houses and one first floor flat.
When the firefighters arrived, they found the fire in the first floor flat already put out.
They used specialist breathing equipment to ventilate the property.
