Six firefighting units were sent to a fire in Thorrington.
The blaze at a house in Tenpenny Hill was attended by two appliances from Colchester, one each from Brightlingsea, Clacton and Frinton and an incident command unit.
Two hose reels were used to tackle the fire which was reported at around 6.50am.
The fire was extinguished just after 8am and all be carried out to establish what caused it.
